Krosno is a town situated in the south-east part of Poland in Subcarpathian Voivodeship with about 47 000 inhabitants. Because of its look, many call it “little Cracow”. Previously it was the capital of Krosno Voivodeship and now it is the capital of Krosno County. Its location is on the way to Bieszczady Mountains (the highest peak of Polish side is Tarnica 1346 metres), where many Poles go hiking and to relax. Krosno was a royal town from its origin and was well known for weaving and glass production, the latter is still in the process. It is worth mentioning that, thanks to Ignacy Łukasiewicz, in the village close to Krosno first oil refinery was built. The main square, with its baroque churches, historic tenements, fountain and well hides legends, love stories and lots of good memories of everybody who visits the city. There are many interesting places nearby too. Do you want to see ruins of the Gothic Castle “Kamieniec” which inspired Polish writer Aleksander Fredro to write his comedy or maybe you are interested in Late Gothic wooden church which is on the UNESCO’s World Heritage Site or you just need to visit a nearby spa-health resort and recharge your batteries after heavy day?
